Effective February 21, 2015, Citizenship and Immigration Canada has made changes impacting employers of provincial nominees.
The Government of Canada has introduced the following additional requirements:
- A mandatory $230 compliance fee per Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA) exempt work permit must be remitted by the employer.
- A new requirement for employers to submit employment information directly to CIC by submitting the completed IMM5802 Offer of Employment to a Foreign National Exempt from a Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA) form.
The employer will be required to complete the form and remit the fee BEFORE the candidate can apply for the work permit. This fee must be paid for by the employer and cannot be charged to the foreign worker.
